Ben Misenheimer, 84, of Council Grove, Kan., a former Monticello resident, died on Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Morris County Hospital in Council Grove, Kan.

He was born in Ehrhardt, S.C., on July 31, 1917, to Clarence and Rose Smyer Misenheimer. As a young boy, his family moved to Covington and he attended school there.

He married Helen Livengood. They were divorced. He married Susan A. Fairchild Fox on Sept. 3, 1965. She survives.

He owned one of the first drive-in movie theaters in LaPorte, hardware stores in Monticello and Covington and Photo Scan of Indiana.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Council Grove.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Libanus Lodge F&AM 154 of Monticello, and a 54-year member of the Scottish Rite Bodies in Indianapolis.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman and loved to travel.

Other survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Paul) Knebel of Peru; a stepdaughter, Linda (Stan) Sanders of Pittsburg, Kansas; stepsons, Joseph (Stefanie) Fox of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and David (Joany) Fox of Council Grove, Kansas; three grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A son, Benjamin Lee Misenheimer; a stepgrandson, Jason Sanders; two brothers; and two sisters are deceased.

Visitation was held Thursday in Council Grove, Kansas. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Memorial Chapel of Flint Hills in Council Grove.

Interment will be at Four Mile Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Council Grove City Recreation Commission.
