Tim Riley Harwood, 74, of New London passed away March 10, 2021 in his home. His graveside service will be 1pm on Friday March 12, 2021 at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Talbert officiating.
Born July 4, 1946 in Stanly County, NC he was the son of the late Hurley Vance Harwood and Naomi Poplin Harwood. He was a veteran of the US Air Force during Vietnam and a retired truck driver. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He loved farming and old tractors. He was a simple man that was committed to his family and provided for them with great love.
Mr. Harwood was preceded in death by his wife Mary Elizabeth Vanhoy Harwood. Survivors include daughters Lisa Hatley (Chad) of Norwood, Suzanne Shields (Delaine) of New London, Kaylene Harwood (Tracy) of Mt. Gilead, four stepchildren Randy Poplin (Teena) of Albemarle, Sandy Hicks (David) of Concord, Wayne Poplin (Tammy) of Albemarle, and Tammy Purvis (Jeff) of Hertford, NC and a number grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Stanly County DAV.
