Harold Victor Biellier

Harold Victor Biellier 90, of Columbia Mo. passed away March 31, 2011 at the University Hospital.

Services will be 11a.m. Tuesday April 5, at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8p.m. on Monday April 4, at the funeral home.

Harold was born January 22, 1921 in Bois D'Arc, Mo. to Elijah Dee and Bonnie Sifferman Biellier and they preceded him in death. He was married on November 6, 1942 in Billings, Mo. to Betty Garbee and she was slso preceded him in death.

Harold obtained a PhD. from University of Mo. and taught Poutry Sciences at the University from 1955 until his retirement in 1987. He was responsible for the research and development of the Egg A Day Chicken. While in college he was a member of Alpha Gamma Sigma and remained active in helping obtain support for the fraternity. Harold served in the Army as Lieutenant and was in occupied Japan after World War 11. He loved to travel and was a member of Missouri United Methodist Church and the Golden K Kiwanis Club in Columbia. His orginal home in Columbia is now Rock Quarry Park. Harold was instrumental in publishing a book of paintings by his aunt Daisy Cook.

Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Kitchen and husband Mel of Linn. son, Wesley Biellier of Columbia, brother, Carlos Biellier of Vandalia, Il. sister, Dorothy Frieze of Osage Beach Mo. grandchildren, Tracy Tritschler of Columbia, and Louis Tritschler of Peculiar Mo. five great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to Columbia Senior Center, State Historical Society, or Longwell Museum Crowder College.
