Notes for Wilda Loretta Leath
Wilda Loretta Wilson

Wilda Loretta (Leath) Wilson passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 85. She was born on February 28, 1930, in Turnback, Missouri, to Ueal and Lorene (Brashears) Leath.

She spent her early years in nearby Mt. Vernon. On June 10, 1948, she married the love of her life, Derwood Wilson, in Marionville, Missouri. Wilda and Derwood lived several different places before settling in Oklahoma in 1977. In 2001 they settled in Verdigris, Oklahoma.

Through the years, Wilda preformed accounting services for several different businesses in Missouri and Oklahoma. A wonderful seamstress, Wilda worked for Tulsa Public Schools reupholstering school bus interiors. After twenty years of service, she retired from TPS, but continued her interest in sewing. Wilda created numerous family treasures that she had either sewn or quilted.

During retirement Wilda and Derwood enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and organizing Wilson family reunions. The Wilson clan might have come for the fish and chips or for Wilda’s famous pies and cobblers.

No matter the occasion, Wilda loved having her family around. This loving mother and grandmother will certainly be missed by her family. She is survived by her sons Kenneth Wilson (Sue) of Republic, Missouri, and Philip Wilson (Annette) of Claremore; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Catherine Beck and Norma Lee Blevins; brothers Roger Leath and Delbert Leath; and numerous nieces and nephews.

This loving wife of sixty-five years will be laid to rest with her husband Derwood “Shorty” Wilson (May 8, 2014). She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nova Brown; and brother Harold Leath.

A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm at Ruckman Cemetery in Marionville, Missouri.
