SALISBURY - Mark "Red" Watson Houston, 89 of Salisbury, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Red was born April 15, 1919 in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Mark Samual Houston and Maude Elizabeth Howie Houston. Red was educated in the Cabarrus County Schools and was a Veteran of World War II serving in the US Army Air Force as a Crew Chief. He was a member of Landmark Alliance Church, Salisbury.

Red had been a Motor Route Carrier for the Salisbury Post for 68 years and had served over 3,000 customers daily with two employees.

In addition to his parents, Red was also preceded in death on January 24, 2004, by his sister, Carolyn Houston.

Survivors include wife Mary Edith Shaver Houston, who he was married to 66 years; son Rick Houston and wife Lisa of Salisbury; granddaughters Scarlette Houston and Lauren Houston; grandson Nick Houston.

Visitation: 2-3 p.m. Sunday at Landmark Alliance Church, 1910 Mooresville Road, Salisbury.

Funeral Services: 3 p.m. Sunday at Landmark Alliance Church, conducted by Rev. Benny Hillard, Pastor. Entombment will follow at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Harrisburg.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Landmark Alliance Church Youth Group, Salisbury.
