Carlee Artz

Carlee (Diamond) Artz, 78, of Rockwell, passed away December 12, 2008 at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

He was born November 11, 1930 in Rowan County, son of the late Charlie Banks Artz and Mary Lefler Artz. He attended Rowan County schools. He fought in the Korean War in the US Army and retired from the Food Lion Warehouse. Mr. Artz was of the Baptist faith and a life member of the Russell Sells VFW Post.

Preceding him in death was a brother Charles Artz, sisters, Elizabeth Jordan, Ruby Carter, and Alexander Artz.

Survivors include his wife Eula Mae Eller; son Wilfred (Wimp) Artz of Rockwell; daughters, Eva Millsaps (Billy), and Claire Hiatt (David) of Faith, and Linda Eagle (Gene) of Rockwell; brother Lonnie Artz (Mary) of Rockwell; sister Gladys Williams of Rockwell; grandchildren Candace Honeycutt and Phillip Honeycutt.

Services: 12 Noon Monday, December 15, 2008 at Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwell with Burial to follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites. Rev. John Houghton will officiate the service.

Visitation: 10:30-11:45 AM Monday, December 15, 2008 at Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwell.

Memorials: Bethel Baptist Church, Rockwell; and Holy Cross Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Airy.
