Jean Huneycutt Hill

Jean Huneycutt Hill of Albemarle, NC, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017, at Stanly Manor in Albemarle, NC. She had celebrated her 90th birthday, on September 27, 2017.

She was born on September 27, 1927, to Theodore Alexander Huneycutt, Sr. and Davis Lee Holt Huneycutt, who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wade Franklin Hill, brothers Richard E. Huneycutt, Donald L. Huneycutt, T.A. Huneycutt, Jr., and sister Brenda Huneycutt Turner.

She is survived by sons Barry Franklin Hill and wife Toni of Durham, NC and Mark Steven Hill and wife Sherri of New London, NC. She was blessed with five wonderful grandchildren, Nicholas A. Hill and wife Kelly of New London; Calvin N. Hill and wife Kaytee of New London; Russell C. Hill and wife Cana of Greensboro, NC; Paul B. Hill and Mary D. Hill, both of Durham, NC.

She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren who brought a sparkle to her eyes and a big smile to her face: Nathaniel A. Hill and Kathryn E. Hill of New London, and Ethan O. Hill of Greensboro.

Jean was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church where during her lifetime she served as a Sunday School teacher, MYF counselor, a member of United Methodist Women, and sang in the choir for 60+ years.

She was employed by Dewey Sides with Paramount Construction for 25 years. She was an office manager and real estate agent while working there. After Paramount she worked with Flame Refractories in Oakboro for 23 years where she served as an office manager. She also served as bookkeeper for her husband and son for Hill’s Refrigeration until she was 85 years old.

After retirement, Jean spent time volunteering at the Community Table in Albemarle. She also loved spending time with all her family anytime she could.

Her Celebration of Life Service will be at the graveside on Monday, November 27, at 4:00pm at Bethany United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 2:00 to 3:45pm in the church fellowship hall. At other times they will be at her home.
