Doris Pauline Little Whitley

Doris Pauline Little Whitley, 91, of Oakboro, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at her home.

Doris was born October 19, 1928 in Stanly County to the late James Labon Little and Bessie Mae Swaringen Little. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Nathaniel Bradford Whitley, who passed away in 1992; daughter, Debbie W. Allen; and great-granddaughter, Lindsey W. Efird.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm  to 2:45pm on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Red Cross Baptist Church. The funeral service to celebrate her life will follow at 3pm in the church sanctuary. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. She will lie in state on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle.

She is survived by her son, Ronald B. Whitley and wife Jane; daughters, Aloma Whitley, and Janet Whitley; brother, Bud Little; sister, Wincie Smith; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved growing flowers and watching birds. She was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed cooking for her family. Doris also loved playing Scrabble and watching Colombo and Walker Texas Ranger; as well as game shows, Wheel of Fortune, Lets Make a Deal, and Jeopardy.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her very special friend, Brenda Allen, for all of her compassionate care.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County and the Uwharrie, Albemarle, NC.
