Betty Grey Fesperman Kepley

Mrs. Betty Grey Fesperman Kepley, 87, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014, after several months of declining health.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who cared dearly for her family.

She was born in Lexington, N.C. but spent her early youth in Hagerstown, Md., before moving back to N.C. with her family.  She attended Catawba College where she majored in Physical Education and met her husband-to-be Joseph Kepley.  Upon graduation, she married, taught physical education and coached basketball for several years before starting a family.

Betty Grey was the daughter of Harvey Augustus Brown Fesperman and Mary Naomi Peeler Fesperman, both deceased.   Dr. Fesperman was the minister of the First Evangelical and Reformed Church in Burlington N.C. She raised three sons and was constantly on the move living in China Grove, N.C., Charlotte, N.C., Hickory, N.C., Columbus, Ga., Augusta, Ga., Dayton, Ohio, Jacksonville, Fla., Baltimore, Md., and lastly Roanoke.

Survivors include three sons, Stephen Kepley and wife, Diane of Vero Beach, Fla., Mark Kepley and wife, Stephanie of Charlotte, N.C. and Jeff Kepley and wife, Marion of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Jason Kepley, Kate Gates, Anna Kepley, Collin Kepley, Seth Kepley, Rachel Kepley and Cole Kepley; and one great-grandchild, Gage Kepley; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.  Husband, Joseph Charles Kepley; sisters, Mary Brown Winters, Lottie Sue Arthur, and Katherine Naomi Eanes, preceded her in death.

The memorial service will be conducted at Second Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 1 P.M.  Visitors will be received at Oakey's South Chapel on Friday January 2, 2015, from 6 until 8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, Roanoke, VA.
