Lois Peeler Surratt
ROSE HILL — Mrs. Lois Peeler Surratt, 96, passed away July 4, 2012. Lois was born in Gold Hill, the daughter of Coy G. and Lucille Peeler.
A 1938 graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College, she taught in the Rose Hill schools for 19 years retiring as a reading specialist at Rose Hill Magnolia Elementary School.
For 71 years Lois was a loyal member of the Rose Hill Methodist Church serving in many capacities.
Her beloved husband, C. W. Surratt Jr. preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Golden and husband, John of Wilmington; son, John P. Surratt and wife, Amelia of Clinton, son, Robert W. Surratt and wife, Pat of Concord; grandchildren, Martha Golden, John W. Golden and wife, Lee, Ginger Surratt Shields and husband, Chris, Jonathan Surratt and wife, Robin; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at the Rose Hill United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday July 7, with visitation at the church following.
