Thursday, June 23, 2011 — Jay Van Furr, 69, of 28512 Canton Road, Albemarle, died at 5:17 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, in his home.
The family received friends at Stanly Funeral Home from 6 to 8 Wednesday evening.
His graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 23, in the Canton Baptist Church Cemetery, Albemarle, with Pastor Mark Mabry officiating.
Born Nov. 19, 1941, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Paul S. and Fannie Moyle Furr and was a retired employee of American Fiber and Finishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Furr and Doyle Furr, and two sisters, Bernice Thompson and Dot Hopkins.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Howell Furr of the home; two sons, Michael V. Furr and wife, Tamara, and Dustin T. Furr, all of Norwood; two brothers, Cecil James Furr and Donnie Dewey Furr, both of Albemarle; two sisters, Louise Holt and Peggy Holt, both of Albemarle; and five grandchildren, Madison Furr, Michael Furr, Robert Furr, Eli Furr and Skylar Furr.
Memorials may be made to: Hospice of Stanly County or Canton Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
