ALBEMARLE -- Grover Silas Furr, 88, of 21868 Canton Road, Albemarle, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at his home. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery in Locust. The Rev. Louis Pfeiffer will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The family will meet at the home at 21868 Canton Road, Albemarle.

Born December 15, 1914, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Martha Furr Furr and Adam Lovely Furr. He was a farmer of grain and livestock and was a charter member of Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nada Luttie Harwood Furr and a son, Silas Monroe Furr.

Survivors include five sons, Walter Ray Furr, Joe Harold Furr, John Adam Furr and Lewis Grover Furr all of Albemarle and Kenneth Paul Furr of Concord; four daughters, Martha Thompson and Betty Fesperman both of Albemarle, Annie Kluttz of Oakboro and Mary Isenhour of Concord; two sisters, Elmira Burris of Albemarle and Martha Coppaway of Charlotte; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church.
