Notes for Elsie Lucille Rinehart
Elsie Rinehart Peterson

SALISBURY - Mrs. Elsie Rinehart Peterson passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Peterson was born Jan. 5, 1922 in Rowan County to the late Joetta Lyerly Rinehart and Solomon B. Rinehart. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church in Faith, where she was a faithful member of the McDaniel Women's Circle. She was an avid gardener and it gave her great joy to share the many fruits of her labor with family and friends. She also loved fishing, creating beautiful crafts, and cooking for family and friends especially for church functions. She also liked visiting around her neighborhood in her trusty golf cart.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by husbands Norman Petrea, to whom she was married for 49 years, and Mervin "Pete" Peterson whom she married late in life and shared many happy years with living in both Florida and North Carolina; brothers Bill Rinehart, June Rinehart; and sister, Vernette Heilig.

She is survived by daughters, Norma Bradshaw (Reid), Vickie Miller (Max); son Joe Petrea (Tammy); grandchildren, Dwight Bradshaw (Wendi), Trent Bradshaw (Crystal), Michelle Murray, Michael Miller, Beverly Smith (Chris) of Rockingham, Stephanie Petrea, D.J. Petrea, and Brian Robertson (Leslie); great-grandchildren Aaron and Will Bradshaw, Andrew and Reagan Bradshaw, Autumn and Maggie Murray, Alex Miller, Aaron and Allison Smith, and Ellie and Ty Robertson; sisters, Katherine Trexler, Mae Poole, and Beatrice Harwood; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Faith Lutheran Church Family Life Center from 1:30-2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2012.

Service: The funeral will be at Faith Lutheran Church at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012, conducted by Pastor Clarence Sifford. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church Debt Reduction Fund, or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sean Malone and the staff at Rowan Diagnostic Clinic, the staff at Rowan Regional Medical Center, the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County and attendant Melba Pickler for the care and concern afforded to Mom. We would also like to thank Pastor Clarence Sifford who provided spiritual guidance to both her and her family during her journey these last few years. We will be forever grateful.
