John "Howard" Haynes

John "Howard" Haynes, 91, of Faith, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury. 

He was born March 13, 1927 in Salisbury, NC to the late Pinkney and Annie Rodgers Haynes. Mr. Haynes attended China Grove High School, Salisbury School of Appliance Servicing and the United Electronics Institute. 

He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. Mr. Haynes retired as an Electronic Technician from Fieldcrest Cannon Plant No. 1 in 1992 after 40 years of employment. An active member of Faith Lutheran Church, Mr. Haynes was a former member of the church council and property committee, served as an usher and sound system operator. He was active with Faith American Legion Post 327 and Faith Civitan Club and was a charter member of Faith Fire Department. Mr. Haynes was a member of the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard and a VA Volunteer for over 29 years. 

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his brother, Carl R. Haynes, and sister, Eva Haynes Sloop.

Howard is survived by his wife of over 69 years, Naomi Arlene Haynes, whom he married on November 20, 1948; son, John Haynes and wife Janet of Faith; daughter, Kathy Ingold and husband Dana of Salisbury; grandchildren, Chris Haynes and wife Katie, Ashtyn Haynes, Garrett Ingold, Bryson Ingold, and Cole Ingold; great-granddaughter, Naomi Kate Haynes; and great-grandson, Bo Jensen Haynes.

The family will greet friends and relatives on Monday, August 27, 2018, 11:00 am - 12:30 pm at Faith Lutheran Church Family Life Center, Faith, NC, and at the home of John Haynes the remainder of the time. 

The funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, August 27, 2018, in the Faith Lutheran Church, Faith, NC, with Pastor Randy Drafts and Pastor Carl Haynes, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Salisbury National Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 27, 2018 with Military Graveside Rites provided by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard and the United States Navy.

Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Faith, NC.
