Baffled Every Effort of Johns Hopkins Physicians for Seven Weeks---Autopsy Disclosed That Death Was Due to an Abcess of the Liver.

Baltimore, Jan. 23--Baffling every effort of physicians of Johns Hopkins hospital for the last seven weeks to diagnose the disease from which he was suffering, Dr. Daniel Eugene Eagle, 26 years old, died Sunday night at that institution. Heads of all departments were called in and physicians not attached to the hospital were taken into consultation but the nature of Dr. Eagle's illness remained a mystery until an autopsy disclosed that death was due to an abscess of the liver.

The body has been sent to Statesville, N. C., the family home. Dr. Eagle was graduated from the University of North Carolina in the class of 1917 and from Johns Hopkins in the medical class of 1922.

Funeral of Dr. Eugene Eagle.

The funeral of Dr. Eugene Eagle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sterling P. Eagle, took place this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the home. The hour was set originally for 11 in the morning but changed to permit the arrival of relatives. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Charles E. Raynal, assisted by Rev. John W. Moore. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery.

Relatives and friends attending the funeral from out of town include Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Eagle, of Newbern; Miss Gladys West and Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Richardson, of Dover; Mr. Herman Baity, of Raleigh; Mrs. Henry King and family, of Clio; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Watt, Mr. I. W. and Miss Sadie Somers, of Stoney Point; Miss Annie King, of Charlotte; Mrs. M. J. Watts, of Cool Springs; Mrs. R. F. Gaither, of Harmony; and Miss Nettie Sloop and Miss Neely Sloop, of Mooresville.
