Lois Margaret Simpson
Lois Margaret Poplin Simpson, 88, of Albemarle, died Aug. 28, 2009, at Stanly Regional.
Burial will be in Simpson Cemetery.
Born April 22, 1921, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Pearson J. and Hattie Jenkins Poplin. She was a lifetime member of Porter Methodist Church, taught Sunday school and was an active member of UMW. She retired from the Lutheran home where she was employed as a CNA. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Ray Simpson, and a granddaughter, Mary Melissa Simpson.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, A. Ray Simpson of the home; a son, Steve Simpson and wife, Priscilla of Albemarle; two brothers, Harold Ray Poplin of Albemarle and William Claude Poplin of Lynchburg, Va.; and six grandchildren, Jennifer Simpson Keelin of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Rhoda Simpson Vreeland of Franklin, N.J.; Thomas Simpson of Jackson, Tenn., and James Simpson, Salem Bays Taylor and Heather Simpson Eller, all of Albemarle.
