Michael Ray Simpson, 152 Fairway Shores Road S., Mt. Gilead, died Saturday morning, Oct. 18, 2008 at Montgomery Memorial Hospital.
Born March 11, 1947, in Stanly County, he was the son of Ray and Lois Poplin Simpson of Albemarle and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was educated at NC State University and was a retired computer technician with Unisys and a part-time employee of OfficeMax in Albemarle. He loved playing the guitar, fishing, photography, antiques, traveling, old western movies and astronomy, as well as talking to people.
A daughter, Mary Simpson, preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Randi Miller Simpson, of the home; two sons, Charles Miller and Rick Miller of Mt. Gilead; a daughter, Jennifer Keelin and husband, Andrew, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a brother, Steve Simpson and wife, Priscilla, of Albemarle; five grandchildren, Lilly Keelin, Jordan Alise Stull, Eric Miller, Jessica Miller and Trey Stull III; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
