Cecil A. Allman, Sr.
SALISBURY - Mr. Cecil A. Allman, Sr., 86, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at Genesis Healthcare.
Born July 29, 1925, in Rowan County to the late Stella Basinger Allman and Adam A. Allman, he was educated in the China Grove school system. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Allman worked as a warehouse foreman at Rowan Cotton Mills for 45 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Phyllis Raye Crowell Allman, on Nov. 25, 2004; his daughter, Wanda Lee Allman, in 1950; his son, Cecil A. Allman Jr., on Oct. 27, 2003; his brother, Lloyd Allman; and his sister, Evelyn Allman.
Surviving are son Randy Allman of Salisbury; daughters Gail Carter of China Grove and Ginger Kennedy of Salisbury; brothers Donald Allman and wife Barbara of Mcleansville and Wayne Allman and wife Patty of Salisbury; sister Sue Correll of Mount Ulla; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Service: A Graveside Service will be held at Chestnut Hill Cemetery Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m.
Visitation: Thursday, Aug. 18 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Summersett Funeral Home.
Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Allman family.
