Notes for Amy Belle Morgan
Amy Morgan Stowe

Amy Morgan Stowe, 95, of Wesley Commons, died September 29, 2016. Born in Rowan County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Alexander Morgan and Mary Ann Agner Morgan. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Four sisters and four brothers lived across the country in various states.

She was devoted to her loving husband Richard Warren Stowe, Sr. and together they shared 74 years of marriage.

Surviving are their three children, whom she adored; Richard , Jr., and wife Beverly Stowe of Hoschton GA, Steve and wife Linda Stowe of Portland OR and Karen and husband Ray Howison of Charlotte NC; six grandchildren, Richard III and wife Jane Stowe of Atlanta GA, Katy and husband Greg Palombi of Asheville NC, Shannon Stowe of New York NY, Brandon and wife Bergren Stowe of Portland OR, Ryan and wife Annie Stowe of Portland OR and Morgan and husband Jay Piercy of Charlotte, NC; three step-grandchildren, Melissa and Chris Moore of Charlottesville VA, Jim and Valerie English and Curt Howison, all of Atlanta GA; eight greatgrandchildren; two step-greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews throughout the country.

Amy went to Peoples Bible School in Greensboro NC where she graduated from high school and attended first year of college. Peoples later became John Wesley College located in High Point NC. There she found her love for music and became a guitarist for a campus trio. She was a self taught pianist requiring no music when playing and often accompanied her husband in singing engagements.

After moving to Greenwood in 1961 and raising her children, Amy earned her nursing degree and worked as a nurse for 11 years at Self Memorial Hospital, an appropriate setting for her loving, nurturing nature to find expression. She will long be remembered for her caring attitude in making others more comfortable than herself. With her nursing background, she found comfort in assisting Richard with his health issues in his final years.

Aside from family, South Main Street Baptist Church came first for Amy as she remained a member for over 50 years, being active in many phases of church life, especially the Reapers and the Adult Three Ladies Class. A dedicated gardener who found beauty in planting a variety of flowers around her, she was also a member of the Violet Garden Club.

Entombment in Greenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
