Bob Steffy

Robert W. 'Bob' Steffy, age 94 of Canton, passed away Jan. 30, 2013. He was born Aug. 6, 1918 in Hartville, the son of the late Ivan and Vina (White) Steffy. He was a graduate of Marlboro High School, Ohio State and Kent State Universities. Bob proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean War. He served as Commander of American Legion Post #44 and was a member of the VFW and KWVA. Bob was a jack-of-all-trades including teacher, photographer, mechanic, milkman, insurance salesman and lover and protector of animals. He was very patriotic and enjoyed being outside watching his grandchildren and animals play while photographing and tinkering with anything and everything.

He is survived by grandchildren, Candy (Heath) Guerin, Billy Phillips Jr., Henry Strange Jr. and Matt and Mark Strange; and great-grandchildren, Jayson Guerin, Courtney Guerin, Lyric Phillips and Arolyn Phillips. Bob is preceded in death by siblings, John, Ruth and Hugh Steffy and his daughter, Phyllis (Steffy) Phillips.

In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place and interment services with full military honors will take place on March 27, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
