SALISBURY - Mr. Jack Edward Parks Sr., 80, of Salisbury, passed away June 27, 2011.
Mr. Parks was born Aug. 13, 1930, in Clifton Forge, Va., to the late Sally Vivian Davis Parks and David Solomon Parks. A graduate of Mount Ulla High School, he retired from Southern Railway (now Norfolk Southern), where he worked for 37 years before retiring in 1987.
He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and East Gate Masonic Lodge 692 AF&AM in Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Ruth Snider and Edna Martin.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years, Jean Shaver Parks; sons Jack Edward Parks, Jr. and wife Allida of Weddington, Michael Garry Parks and wife Linda of Taylors, S.C.; five grandchildren, Leah Parks, Jennifer Baucom, Melissa Manning, Ryan Parks and Heather Kim; and 10 great grandchildren.
Service: Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Providence United Metho-dist Church on Bringle Ferry Rd. with the Rev. Dan Goble officiating. Mr. Parks will lie in state for 30 minutes before the service. Interment will follow at the Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation: Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Summersett Funeral Home; and the family will be at the residence at other times.
