SALISBURY - Bessie Faye Overcash Ritchie, 82, of China Grove, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born May 31, 1927, to the late Ray L. and Pearl Morgan Overcash, she was a Landis High School graduate. A member of Mount Zion United Church of Christ, she was a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir and part of the Women's Guild.
Bessie was also involved in the Home Demonstration Club and was part of a band, Sing-N-Strings. Mrs. Ritchie worked as a seamstress for Norman's in Salisbury.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Herman Ritchie of China Grove; daughter Betty Ritchie of China Grove; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Service: Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion United Church of Christ. Service follows at 2 p.m. at church conducted by Rev. William Campbell. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Memorials: Mount Zion United Church of Christ, China Grove.
