Gary James Almond went to his heavenly home and joined his Lord November 20, 2016. He was born July 1, 1961 to the late Jesse James and Margaret Barringer Almond.
Gary loved his Lord and showed his love for others by always doing for them. He lived life to the fullest and was an encourager to all. He was very active in Vortex Church. He loved his church family. He and his wife, Christi hosted a Vortex Small Group bible study, he was a member of the Vortex Set-Up Team and the Vortex Disc Golf Small Group. He loved to play disc golf with his friends.
Gary was employed with Cohen Construction Company for twenty-five years.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Christi Treece Almond. He is survived by two sisters, Joyce A. Poplin of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Jan A. and Jimmy Eudy of Albemarle. He was a second father to his niece Tiffanie Putnam and a grandfather to her sons Camden and Aiden Putnam.
A service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held Tuesday, November 22, at 1:00 PM at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care. The service will be officiated by Pastor Kevin Simmons. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 PM at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care. Burial will follow in the Union Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Vortex Church Legacy Fund, Albemarle, NC.
