Nellie Barringer
Nellie Thompson Barringer, 88, of Mount Gilead, surrounded by her loving family, passed away Monday night, June 27, 2016 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM, Friday, July 1, 2016 at Stoney Fork Baptist Church. Rev. Flynn Richardson will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM, Thursday evening, June 30, 2016 at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.
Mrs. Barringer was born May 11, 1928 in Montgomery County to the late John Delmar and Nancy Magdaline Haithcock Thompson. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Stoney Fork Baptist Church,where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the WMU. She loved serving the Lord! She enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. She was a cafeteria manager for 27 years at Highland Elementary School and West Middle School and had also worked for Johnson’s Peach Orchard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Lane Barringer who passed away in 2015; grandsons, Terry Deese and Marty Hopkins; brothers, Irvin Thompson, Sr. and Jarrett Thompson.
She is survived by her children, Mary Tyson and husband, David of Norwood. Judy Cox of North Myrtle Beach, SC, John L. Barringer of Mount Gilead, Christopher G. Barringer and wife, Kathy of Sanford, Angela Huneycutt and husband, Derry of Norwood; grandchildren, Tony Barringer, Darryl Hopkins, Tracy Deese, Timothy Deese, Ashley Council, Megan Jarrell, Phillip Barringer, Allen Barringer, Adam Barringer, Amanda Loflin, Katie Barringer, Tabatha Hartsell, Dwight Huneycutt, Kirri Flanders, Kristi Augustyn and Phillip Cox; nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001 and/or Stoney Fork Baptist Church.
