David Sides
Mr. David “Pap” Sides, 75, of Salisbury, NC, passed away, Friday, October 9, 2015 at the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury.
Mr. Sides was born September 3, 1940 in Rockwell, NC to the late James Cleveland Sides and Ethel Swinson Sides.
He was a 1958 graduate of Rockwell High School and attended Rowan Cabarrus Community College. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Korea. David worked for Fiber Industries until his retirement. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and served on the church council, Assistant Boy Scout Leader of Troop 403, Assistant Boy Scout Leader of the Year in 2005, and, Vigil Honor Order of the Arrow Lodge 188. He was a member of the Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rites. He was an auxiliary officer with the Rowan County Sheriff’s office.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Albert Sides.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Earlene B. Sides; sons, Mark B. Sides, Brent D. Sides, T. Paul Sides, Timothy Scott White; daughter, Angelia Sides Bates; and nine grandchildren.
Memorial Service: 2:00 PM Saturday, October 17, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1908 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury conducted by Pastor John Tucker. Visitation will follow in church fellowship hall. Entombment will be at Salisbury National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund, 1908 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144.
