Harry Lee Bonds

SALISBURY - Harry Lee Bonds, 91, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at Autumn Care of Salisbury.

Born Jan. 11, 1915, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Bonds was a son of the late Laura Ellen Holshouser and John Edmond Bonds. A 1933 graduate of Rockwell High School, he was a carpenter by trade and operated Bonds Fish Camp.

Mr. Bonds was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church and helped start United Methodist Men. He also helped with barbecue fund-raisers. He was a horse enthusiast.

Preceding Mr. Bonds in death were daughters Sue Carol Bonds and Nancy Laura Bonds; and brothers Homer, Charles, Paul, Gurley and Jim.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ruby Lentz Bonds; son Sam Bonds of Salisbury; daughter Dixie ZumBeunnen and husband Thomas Park ZumBeunnen III of Virginia; grandchildren Thomas and Steve ZumBeunnen; and great-grandchildren Zachery and Luke ZumBeunnen.

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Liberty United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Helms officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at Lyerly Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
