Ruby Lentz Bonds

SALISBURY - Ruby Lentz Bonds, age 96, of Salisbury, died on Sept. 5, 2012, at Autumn Care of Salisbury.

Born in Rowan County Nov. 7, 1915, Mrs. Bonds was the daughter of the late Joseph Calvin Lentz and Nancy Morgan Lentz of Salisbury.

A 1933 graduate of Rockwell High School, she was a seamstress by trade and operated Bonds Fish Camp with her husband, the late Harry Bonds.

Mrs. Bonds was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church and was very active in the church's ladies quilting group.

Preceding Mrs. Bonds in death were her husband of 65 years, Harry Bonds; her daughters, Sue Carol Bonds and Nancy Laura Bonds; and sisters Myrtle Plyler and Pauline Frick.

Survivors include sister Hazel Lentz Russell of Salisbury; son Sam Bonds and wife Katie Sanders Bonds; daughter Dixie Bonds Zum Brunnen and husband Thomas P. Zum Brunnen III of Manassas, Va.; grandchildren Thomas P. Zum Brunnen IV of Manassas, Va., Stephen Douglas Zum Brunnen and wife Ann of Eldersburg, Md.; great-grandchildren Zachery Nolan and Luke Amos Zum Brunnen; along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at Liberty United Methodist Church. The family will be at the residence of Mr. Sam Bonds at other times.

Funeral: 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at Liberty United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Curtis officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial to follow in church cemetery.
