Betty Lou Carter
Betty Lou Carter, 76, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 17, 2015. She was born on December 26, 1938 to the late Claude and Estelle Vinyard.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, William “Trimmy” Carter; her son, Shawn Carter, and his wife, Melissa; her daughter, Melanie Graffeo, and husband, Jeff; three grandchildren, Carter, Elle and Colin Graffeo; and a very special cousin, Joan Showalter.
Betty Lou was a graduate of Mary Baldwin College with a degree in communications. She retired from American Electric Power after 40 years of service. Betty Lou was an active member of Peters Creek Church of the Brethren. She was the choir director for 48 years and a lifetime deaconess.
A celebration of her life service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, April 20, 2015, at Peters Creek Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Dr. Jack W. Lowe officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Oakey’s North Chapel from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm.
Memorials may be made to Peters Creek Church of the Brethren, 5333 Cove Road, Roanoke, VA.
