Trimmy Carter

Trimmy Carter, 82, of Roanoke, passed away on August 16, 2016. He was born on March 20, 1934 to the late Joseph and Zula Carter.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years. Betty Lou Carter, and siblings, Joseph Carter Jr, Emma Hall, and Bobby Carter.

He is survived by his son, Shawn Carter and wife, Melissa; his daughter, Melanie Graffeo, and husband, Jeff; three grandchildren, Carter, Elle, and Colin Graffeo; and siblings Mildred Robertson, Margaret “Dolly” Ingram (Chuck), Betty Pruitt, Patsy Carter, James “Bud” Kimball, and Joseph Chittum.

Trimmy owned a contracting business, Trimmy Carter Associates, for over 30 years. He served in the United States army from 1957 to 1962. Trimmy was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the Silver Beaver for his distinguished service. He was an active member of Peters Creek Church of the Brethren serving as a lifetime deacon and trustee.

Trimmy had a larger than life personality and never met a stranger. His kindness and generosity touched so many lives and he will be greatly missed. 

A celebration of his life service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Peters Creek Church of the Brethren with the Pastor Stuart Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
