Bonnie Lucille Heilig Herrin

Bonnie Lucille Heilig Herrin, 93, of Salisbury, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.

She was born December 8, 1929, the daughter of the late Sidney John Heilig and Mamie Rogers Heilig. Bonnie attended Granite Quarry High School and Salisbury School of Cosmetology. She made many lifelong friendships working as a licensed hairdresser for a number of years. Bonnie raised her children and served the Lord faithfully at Faith Baptist Church, Faith, and in her later years became a member of First Baptist Church, Salisbury, where her membership remained until her death. Bonnie served as Woman’s Missionary Union Director for over two decades, held many positions in the church, and influenced many lives for Christ. She enjoyed traveling, cheering for the Carolina Tarheels and the Atlanta Braves, shelling and fishing at the coast, hosting friends in her home, and opening her beach house to missions teams and guests. She taught her children and grandchildren values that made her life so vibrant. Bonnie was gifted with hospitality and compassion, loving everyone and making sure they knew how precious they were. She showed people how to love.

Bonnie was preceded in death by Gerald West Herrin, husband of 68 years, grandchildren Meredith and William Dover, great-grandchildren Levi Erdman and Kinsley Moody, and sons-in-law Neil Barlow and Bill Dover.
