Notes for E. J. Beck
EJ Beck

EJ Beck, 84, passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at UNC Hospital. EJ was born Sept. 15, 1931, in Rowan County, to the late Charles Adam and Pearl Henley Beck. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having proudly served our country during the Korean War.

He retired from AC Corporation as an Electrical Project Manager. EJ was an avid fisherman and a member of Pinecroft Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and was a Sunday school teacher. Many will fondly remember him being the church narrator for the Christmas programs. At Guilford Technical Community College, he taught the first Electrical Apprenticeship Program. He proudly put his two children through college and he returned to college and graduated at the age of 55 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Beck was preceded in death by his wife, Novella K. Beck; sister, Phil B. Barber and his brother, Lynn Beck.

He is survived by his children, Detra Beck Morton and husband Bryan of Summerfield and Eric J. Beck and wife Elaine of Asheboro; grandchildren, Rachel Morton of Clayton, Jacob Morton and wife Lauren of Providence, R.I. and his sister, Ruby Beck Alley of Salisbury. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and very special friends.

Service & Visitation: A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pinecroft Baptist Church, West Vandalia Road, Greensboro, NC.
