Ruby Beck Alley

Ruby Beck Alley, 93, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at the Autumn Care of Salisbury. She was born in Rowan County on October 13, 1924, to the late Charlie Adam Beck and Pearl Henley Beck. She graduated from Boyden High School. Mrs. Alley was a member of Trading Ford Baptist Church for 73 years, where she was a Sunday School teacher, pianist for the children’s department, and a choir member. She especially enjoyed singing in the choir and performing solos and duets with her husband.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell Martin Alley, who she married in 1944, while he was on leave during WWII; a son Barry Lamonte Alley; sister, Phil Barber; brothers, Charles Lynn Beck and E.J. Beck; and a niece, Reba Barber Krider.

Mrs. Alley is survived by her children Sharlene Alley Streeter (Bill) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Mark Alley (Carol) of Badin Lake, NC, and Kendall Alley (Karen) of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren Bryan Alley (Laura), Stephanie Hill (Adam), Ginny McCullough(Adam), Carrie Alley, Zac Alley and Trent Alley. She has 4 great-grandchildren, Alley McCullough, Jenna Hill, Luke McCullough, and Everett Alley, and one more due in March. Aunt Ruby will also be missed by her nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Trading Ford Baptist Church, 3600 Long Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Services will be Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Trading Ford Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Motley, Rev. Michael Frye, and Rev. Richard Hovater presiding. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Baptist Children’s Home of North Carolina, Thomasville, NC.
