David Lee Arey (Dave), 74, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury, NC.
He was born May 4, 1948 in Rowan County to the late Arthur Lee and Lola Goodman Arey. Dave was well known for founding the High Rock Boat & Ski Club and his grading business, Dave's Grading and Hauling. Dave also had many other businesses such as Dave's Deli, Dave's Music & Games, GET-A-WAY Arcade and Hoff's Grill.
In 1989, Dave became a Master Mason at Blue Lodge of Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge of Rockwell NC. In 1990 he became a member of the Oasis Shriners & Rowan Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Foothills Corvette Club.
Dave loved life. He loved his family & friends. Time spent at and on High Rock Lake, especially Goat Island brought him great pleasure. He loved to spend time at Ocean Drive and at Beech Mountain. Dave had a contagious smile & laugh like no other. He was a friend to many and touched many lives. He will be greatly missed.
David is survived by his daughter, Melissa Arey (Ron Doby) of Salisbury, NC; son, David Arey, Jr. of Rockwell, NC; two grandchildren, Dylan Ridenhour (Katlyn) and Logan Ridenhour (Andie), special friend, Vickie Barnhardt of Salisbury, NC, and his constant companion Gander.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Friday, April 21, 2023, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home, Rockwell, NC.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Union Lutheran Church, Salisbury, NC, with Pastor Heidi Punt officiating.
Memorials may be made to Union Lutheran Church, 4770 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC; Shriners Hospitals for Children, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA; or The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC.
