Wilma Jane Hatley Thompson

Wilma Jane Hatley Thompson, formerly of Albemarle, passed away November 15, 2016 in Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Wilma was born April 17, 1931 to Paul Green and Essie Burris Hatley in Albemarle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bryce Edward Thompson, and son Bernard Edward Thompson both of Albemarle and two brothers, Rayvon Hatley of Rockwell, N.C. and Ronald Keith Hatley of Albemarle.

Wilma worked for many years at Wiscassett Mills. She loved working in her garden, picking blackberries and baking cakes and pies. She was happiest when she was helping others. She was a long time member of Silver Springs Baptist Church.

Wilma is survived by her daughter, Myra (Jerry) Lambert of Colorado Springs; 5 grandchildren, David (Tiffany) Thompson, Keisha Lambert, Casey (Elizabeth) Lambert, Jeremy (Alex) Lambert and Lauren Lambert; and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Dean (Debbie) Hatley, and 3 sisters, Louise (Melvin) Lorch, Julia Brooks and Glenda Gilstrap, as well as a number of nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Silver Springs Baptist Church.
