Rayvon Hatley

Rayvon Hatley, 80, of Rockwell, died Wednesday Jan. 30, 2008, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with The Rev. Bruce Sheeks to officiate. Burial will be in Brookhill Memorial Garden.

Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday at the church.

Born May 27, 1927, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Paul and Essie Burris Hatley. He was educated in the Stanly County schools. He was a veteran of the US Navy and retired after 16 years from Norandal. Mr. Hatley was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia Rusher Hatley, whom he married Oct. 18, 1973; two sons, Terry Hatley (Mitzi) of Salisbury and The Rev. Buddy Hoffner (Peggy) of Rockwell; a daughter, Sylvia Doyle (Jimmy) of Salisbury; three step-daughters, Brenda Rummage (Gary) of Gold Hill, Shelia Lentz (Wayne) of Granite Quarry and Cathy Lowman (Robert) of Gold Hill; two brothers, Ronald Hatley and Dean Hatley, both of Albemarle; four sisters, Louise Lorch, Glenda Gilstrap, Julia Brooks, all of Oakboro, and Wilma Thompson of Aquadale; three grandchildren, Tammy Young, Lisa Morrison and Garet Hatley and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
