Lonnie Alexander Artz
Lonnie Alexander Artz, 96, of Rockwell, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born December 22, 1925 in Rowan County to the late Charles and Mary Lefler Artz and attended Rockwell High School. Lonnie worked at Cannon Mills for 28 years, then later became a mechanic at Glosson Motor Lines and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwell. Mr. Artz was an avid fisherman and loved to garden, but most of all loved being around his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by his wife Mary Livengood Artz, and his seven siblings.
Mr. Artz is survived by his loving children; two daughters, Jill Hartman of Rockwell and Kay Owens of Newland; son, Danny Artz and wife Peggy of Rockwell; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Private services will take place for Lonnie with burial to follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Powles Staton Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the Artz family.
