Tuesday, March 18, 2014 — Vervle Adams Hudson, 86, of Norwood, passed away, Friday morning, March 14, 2014, at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle.
Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Cottonville Baptist Church. The Rev. Alex Willoughby and the Rev. Todd McSwain officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 3-4 p.m., one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
Mr. Hudson was born November 21, 1927, in Stanly County, to the late Pearl Clifford Hudson and Flora Mae Frick Hudson.
He was a member of Cottonville Baptist Church and a retiree of Collins & Aikman Corporation. He was also a custodian at Aquadale Elementery School for 11 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Meggs Hudson in 1983, and daughter, Pat Hudson Burris, in 2010.
He is survived by his son, Darrell Hudson and wife Sheila of Albemarle; daughters, Shirley Hudson Summerlin and husband Max and Cynthia Hudson Greene and husband Garry, all of Norwood; son-in-law, Doug Burris; brothers, Ralph Hudson and wife Ann of Norwood and Bryce Hudson and wife Helen of Ohio; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and special friend, Rebecca Hill, of Oakboro.
