ROCKWELL - George Henry "Hank" Sides, 87, of Rockwell, died Friday, July 7, 2006, at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.
Mr. Sides was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Rowan County the son of the late Paul Jerome Sides and Mary Jane Hatley Sides. He had attended Rockwell School and American School of Chicago and had worked as a Electrician commercial wirer for Rockwell Radio & Electric for 35 years. Mr. Sides was member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, choir member, Sunday School Teacher, a member of the church council and worked in other phases of the church as long as his health permitted. He was also a charter member of the Rockwell Rural Fire Dept, member of the Liberty Extension Community and Association, life member of the Southern Seminary Auxiliary and a Honorary Life Member of Lutheran Men in Mission.
Survivors include his wife Esther Morgan Sides, whom he married Dec. 5, 1936, son Floyd E. Sides, Sr. and wife Bobbie of Newberry, S.C.; granddaughter Kim Sides Havird and husband Benny of Newberry, S.C.; grandson Gene Sides and wife Tamara of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; great- grandchildren Tyler and Kelsey Havird both of Newberry, S.C.
Service: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peters Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. David Ridenhour, Pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. tonight at Powles Funeral Home and at the residence the remainder of the time.
Memorials: St. Peters Lutheran Church or to the charity of donor's choice.
