Ralph Almond

Ralph Almond, 78, of Granite Quarry, passed away on Wednesday August 3, 2016 at the VA Hospice House and Palliative Care Center in Salisbury. Mr. Almond was born on August 9, 1937 in Rowan County, to the late Claude E. Almond and Rosa Bell Paige Almond. Mr. Almond proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

He was educated in the Rowan County School System and worked for and retired from Rowan Printing Company as a printer supervisor. Ralph was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Salisbury. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone, he always had a story to tell. He loved to mow and would mow his neighbors yards as well as his family members. Ralph enjoyed fishing and he loved woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Miller Almond who he married on October 13, 2001; his children, Tammy Almond Eudy, Monica Almond Nichols, George F. Almond, Darlene D. Lankford and husband Gary, Glenn "Doc" Doby and wife Brenda, Tammy Draughon and husband Kevin, Dale Miracle and husband Mike, and Jennifer Goodman; grandchildren, Jessica Eudy, Joseph Eudy, Keri Lowman, Isaiah Nichols, Rachel Nichols, Kaley Almond, Emily Almond, Brandi Lazaris and husband Mike, Aaron Lindsay and wife Regina, Russell Lindsay, Jatana Taylor and husband Jack, Daniel Doby and wife Shaynee, Caleb Doby and wife Nikkie, Kaylee Draughon, Tori Draughon, Kimber Draughon, Tavin Draughon, and Braydan Beggs; great grandchildren, Seth, Emily, Kelsey, Jaylan, Alona, Hannah, Abby, Oliver, Eiley, Will, Alex, Sam, Kaitlyn, Dylan, and Ryan; and two sisters, Virginia Elouise Blackwell, and Peggy Rose Collins.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:30 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (1255 Julian Rd., Salisbury, NC 28146) conducted by Bishop Cliff Daines. Burial will take place following the service at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Gold Hill. Military Honors will be provided by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard and the NC National Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the W.G. Bill Hefner VA Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Salisbury.
