Virginia Griffin Simpson
GOLD HILL - Virginia K. Griffin Simpson, 88, died Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Britthaven of Piedmont in Albemarle.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. Rufus William Kirk and Mrs. Ester Miller Kirk.
She attended Richfield High School and was employed at Burlington Mills in Denton. She was a member of Luther's Lutheran Church. She liked to quilt, and loved spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Simpson is preceded in death by her first husband, Mr. James Crofford Griffin and her second husband, Mr. Simpson and a sister Pauline Kirk.
She is survived by her son, Mr. Crofford Ray Griffin and wife Shirley of Salisbury; daughters, Marcine Peacock of Gold Hill, Mrs. Bernice Smith and husband Harvey of Gold Hill, Louise Smith and Rick of Salisbury; grandchildren, Sonya Smith and husband Billy, Ann Vanhoy and husband Tommy, Sue Corbett, Buckie Smith, Dale Smith and wife Lisa, Bobby Smith and wife Kelly, and Sherry Denton and Rick.
Service and Burial: The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Luther's Lutheran Church, Richfield, conducted by Rev. Gregory Yeager. Mrs. Simpson will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to Luther's Lutheran Church.
