Willie Edna Buchanan
Mrs. Willie Edna Buchanan 95 of Salisbury, formerly of Wilmington, passed away September 22, 2009 at the Autumn Care of Salisbury.
Mrs. Buchanan was born November 18, 1913 in Rowan County, daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Waller and Annie Elizabeth Barger Waller.
Mrs. Buchanan was educated in the Rowan County Schools, worked for Cannon Mills, and retired from Belk-Berry in Wilmington. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and a former member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Wilmington.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Reece H. "Buck" Buchanan who died February 6, 1993.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Julia Edens of Salisbury, and Mrs. Martha Bender and husband Sam of Bowman, S.C. One sister survives, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Stoner of Salisbury. Her grandchildren are Gene Edens, Sam Bender, Jr. Susie Trevino, Sandra Dennis and Linda Phlegar. Five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren also survive.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Doug Hefner, Former Pastor. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM Saturday at the Church. Burial will be at 3:30 PM Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Greenlawn Memorial Park, in Wilmington.
The family request no flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, or to Rowan Regional Hospice.
