Notes for Thomas Alexander “Red” Page
Thomas Page

Thomas Alexander "Red" Page, 85, of 914 Hill St., Albemarle, died at 2:32 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at Stanly Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle. At other times the family will meet at his home. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, with a 30-minute state at Church of God, where he was a member. The Rev. Thomas Andrufski will officiate. Burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory, Albemarle, with military honors conducted by Stanly County DAV, Chapter 12.

Born Sept. 1, 1924, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Bill and Bessie Efird Page and worked in maintenance for E.J. Synder. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Thomas was known to his family and friends as "Red Bird." He was a kind, gentle, and considerate soul. He had a passion for fixing broken lawn mowers and spent most of his later years in life doing just that for a lot of folks. He was at his happiest on his lawn mower, mowing his yard and field. He also enjoyed chopping wood, selling scrap metal, and "wheeling-and-dealing" with cars. His life changed in May of 2009 when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It was a devastating time for all of us. However, his life changed again June 28, 2009, when he found the Lord and was the first person to be baptized at Church of God on Hill Street. That day was the beginning of his transition to be with the Lord. We will miss him greatly, but he is truly in a better place.

He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Page, and a daughter, Betty Sue Page.

Surviving is his wife, Dorothy Odessa Clark Page of Albemarle; son, Larry Wayne "Rosebud" Page of Albemarle; two daughters, Ann (Page) Laton and Linda (Page) Herlocker, both of Albemarle; two brothers, Robert Page and Albert Page, both of Albemarle; a sister, Mattie Miller of Albemarle; and six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to: Hartsell Funeral Home, C/O Thomas Page.

Arrangements by Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle.
