Gladys Myrick Blume

SALISBURY - Gladys Elva Myrick Blume, 91, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at the Meadows of Rockwell Retirement Center.

Mrs. Blume was born March 8, 1917, in Rowan County; she was the youngest and last surviving member of the late James William and Cora Walser Myrick union.

Mrs. Blume worked many years for JC Penny's and retired from Carolina Maid Products.

Mrs. Blume loved to laugh and will always be remembered for her warm smile and that special sparkle in her eyes.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Murry Blume (1909-1998); sisters, Juanita Nash and Peggie Storms; and brothers, Glenn and Bill Myrick.

Survivors include her children, Norman Ray Blume of Salisbury; Judy Blume Ghent (Bill) of Salisbury and Phyllis Blume Frick (Everette) of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Gina, Kevin and Scott Blume, Tammy Hubbard, Todd Mills and Jan Bergeron; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2 at the Summersett Funeral Home

Service: A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday at Rowan Memorial Park.
