Notes for Rudolf “Rudy” Frick
Rudolf was baptised in St. Mark's Church, Knonau, 15 Sept 1709. During 1734-1744, each parish was required to report to the government of Zurich those who had immigrated. The pastor's report for 1739 states "of persons who have gone from time to time from Parish Knonau to Carolina and Pennsylvania, - Rudolf, son of Felix Frick deceased from Uttenberg an estate of the Parish of Knonau, age 29 years."

Rudolf arrived in Philadelphia 11 Dec 1739 on the ship Lydia, Captain James Allen. Other passengers from Knonau included Johannes and Caspar FRICK, sons of Ulrich FRICK, Heinrich SYTZ, Heinrich SYTZ Jr, and Ulrich SPINNER, who later married Ursula FRICK, sister of Johannes and Caspar. It is likely that Ursula, Ann, and Elizabeth, sisters of Johannes and Caspar, and Caspar's wife, Veronica Hitz, were on board.

Caspar FRICK died soon after arrival, but Rudolf and Johannes settled in Milford Township, Bucks County, PA. No land records have been found for Rudolf, but in 1749 he and Johannes signed a petition to obtain a road in Milford which would indicate he was a landowner. Also in 1749 he is listed as a member of Tohickon German Reformed Church in Bedminster. He must have married Vernoica, maiden name unknown, about this time.

On 1 Mar 1752 the Colonial Assembly created Northampton County from Bucks County and split Milford Township into Upper Milford and Lower Milford. Since there are no land records, it is not known how this affected Rudolf, but in 1758 he appears on a "List of Heads of Families who in Great Swamp Belong to the Congregation of the Rev. George Michael Weiss." This congregation was in Lower Milford near the border of Philadelphia County (present Montgomery Co, PA).

On 26 Jan 1768 Rudolf and Veronica baptised their daughter Anna, sponsors Rudolf Hupper (Huber) and wife.

The earliest tax roll for Lower Milford dates from 1779 and does not include Rudolf, nor has he been found in the records of surrounding counties. This suggests that either Rudolf died before 1779 or went with his sons to NC.
