Mr. John Irving Lentz, 83 of Salisbury passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Magnolia Gardens in Spencer. Mr. Lentz was born on December 14, 1928 in Rowan County, son of the late John Rufus Lentz and Varina Earnhardt Lentz.
Mr. Lentz was educated in the Rowan County Schools. He was owner of Lentz General Store and also repaired clocks. He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church, Keller Memorial Lodge, Scottish Rite, Oasis Shrine and the Eastern Star and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to his parents, he is preceeded in death by his wife, Mildred Miller Lentz. He is survived by his sons, Timothy Lentz and wife Patricia, Douglas Lentz and wife Judy, two daughters, Sharon Lentz Hayden and husband Jim, Laura Lentz Arey and husband Kim, all of Salisbury, nine grandchildren, Zach Lentz, Matthew Lentz, Brian Lentz, Meredith Lentz, Jenna Lentz, Jason Hayden, Ashley Hayden Cleland, Taylor Arey and Logan Arey.
The funeral will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Liberty United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Brad Cunningham, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home on Monday, April 9, 2011, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 3885 Liberty Road, Gold Hill, NC 28071.
