Judy Carol Fraley Leazer

Judy Carol Fraley Leazer, 72, of Faith, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Gary Monroe Leazer to whom she was married 51 years.

Judy was born on December 28, 1944 in Rowan County to David Earl Fraley and Pasty Ruth Hamilton Fraley. She was a 1963 graduate of East Rowan High School. After graduating high school, she went on to attend Rowan Beauty School and became a licensed beautician. Judy worked as a beautician 53 years, working her way up from shampoo girl at the age of 14 to owning and operating her own business, Judy's Beauty Salon, in Faith.

She was a lifetime member of Shiloh Reformed Church in Faith where she served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher for the three year old class for 15 years, a member of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School class, served as Senior Youth leader with her husband, was a member of the Women's Guild and sang in the adult church choir since the age of 12.

Judy was very involved in her community during her life. For the town of Faith, she served on the Faith Zoning Board, sold food and tickets for the Faith Fourth of July, and served as a parade judge.

Judy was a loving wife and mother. When her sons were growing up, she was an active Classroom Mom during their elementary schooling and served as Den Leader for the Cub Scouts for seven years.

She loved to decorate and could turn the ordinary into the extraordinary and, she loved helping friends and family decorate for weddings, baby showers, special events, etc. She was willing to help anyone who asked. She will be greatly missed by all.

In addition to her husband, Judy was preceded in death by her father, David Earl Fraley; and brother-in-law, Donald Ray Leazer.

She is survived by her mother, Patsy Ruth Hamilton Fraley of Faith; two sons, Timothy Scott Leazer and wife Amy Mako Leazer of Sugar Hill, GA, and Christopher Bradley Leazer and wife Emily Harrison Leazer of Cramerton; six grandchildren, Timothy, Ashlan, Olivia, Ruby, Kaitlyn, and Audrey; three sisters, Rickie Fraley Faggart and husband Charlie "Butch" Faggart of China Grove, Darlene Fraley Shaheen and husband George Shaheen of Atherton, CA, and Gail Fraley Yarborough and husband Tony Yarborough of Faith; brother-in-law, Hubert "Bill" Leazer and wife Jan Beck Leazer of Salisbury; sister-in-law Betty Reaves Leazer of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 1-3 pm in the Fireplace Lobby of Shiloh Reformed Church in Faith.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 3 pm at the Shiloh Reformed Church with Rev. Richard Myers, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
