Tommy Rufty
SALISBURY - Thomas C. "Tommy" Rufty, 74, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at Autumn Care of Salisbury.
Born Dec. 28, 1933, in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Elmer Lee and Edna Earnhardt Rufty. Mr. Rufty attended the Salisbury schools and was a graduate of Boyden High School. He worked with his father at E.L Rufty Grocery and later at Piedmont Distributors for over 37 years. He was a member of Park Avenue Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge.
Mr. Rufty is survived by his wife, Rachel Campbell Rufty, whom he married Nov. 11, 1956. Other survivors include son Mark Rufty and his wife, Teresa, of Salisbury; son Brad Rufty and his wife, Susan, of Waxhaw; and grandchildren Kristy Bishop, Lauren Rufty, Nicole Rufty, Kevin Rufty, Dylan Souther and Collin Rufty.
Visitation and Service: Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 24 from 2-3 p.m. at the Mausoleum at Rowan Memorial Park. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. at the Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum conducted by Rev. Anna Lee Allen, Minister of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 500 Park Ave., Salisbury, NC 28144.
