Leo Alvin Miller

Leo Alvin Miller, 94, of Rockwell, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017. He was born August 27, 1922, in Rowan County to the late Charlie A. and Estie Fisher Miller.

Mr. Miller was a 1939 graduate of Rockwell High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a self employed dairy farmer who worked close with Coble Dairy. A lifelong member of Organ Lutheran Church, he was a member of the Augsburg Sunday School Class, former member and president of the church council, and a member of the church choir for over 50 years. He was also a former member of Rockwell Rural Fire Department. Mr. Miller could be found in one of two places, his church or working on his farm.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Trexler Miller.

Mr. Miller is survived by his son, Lyn Miller of Rockwell, daughter, Lana Miller of Rockwell, grandchildren, Angie Harrison (Terry), Wendle Miller (Vickie), and Heather Heilig (Walter), and great-grandchildren, Blake Heilig, Drew Miller, Hollie Harrison, Adalie Harrison, and Ava Heilig.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 2:00 to 2:45 PM on Thursday, July 27, 2017, in the parlor at Organ Lutheran Church.

The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM on Thursday in the sanctuary of Organ Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Carlin Ours, pastor.

Interment with Military Graveside Rites by Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard and North Carolina National Guard will be held in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Organ Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in memory of Leo Miller.
