GOLD HILL - Ralph Adolphus Jackson, 83, of Gold Hill, died Feb. 2, 2006, at W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury. Born July 16, 1922, in Rowan County, Mr. Jackson was the son of the late John Wilson Jackson and Ida Lou Eagle Jackson. He was educated at Jackson College Elementary School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. A member of Liberty United Methodist Church in Gold Hill, Mr. Jackson retired March 1, 1985, from the NC Finishing Company with 28 years of service. He loved gardening and yard work.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Beaver Jackson, on March 30, 2005, and daughter Joyce J. Koontz on April 5, 2002.

Survivors include sons Ronald R. Jackson, Randy S. Jackson and Ernest Jackson of Gold Hill, Thomas L. Jackson of Richfield and Robert R. Jackson of Reidsville; brothers Manteo Jackson of Jacksonville, Fla., David Jackson of Denton, and Louie Jackson of Salisbury; sisters Thelma J. Luther of Asheboro and Ruby J. Page of Granite Quarry; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way.

Service : A graveside Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell conducted by the Rev. Fred Hill. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Rowan County Honor Guard.

Visitation : 6:30-8 tonight at Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell.

Memorials : American Cancer Society.
