Ruth Morgan Rankin
SALISBURY - Mrs. Ruth Morgan Rankin, 93, of Salisbury, passed away at her residence on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012.
Mrs. Rankin was born Dec. 2, 1918, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Adam D. Morgan and Carrie Eagle Morgan. She was a 1936 graduate of Rockwell High School and was trained at Presbyterian Hospital as a nurse. She was a life-member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Dickson Rankin, who passed away June 22, 1987.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Norman Ribelin and wife Pam of Salisbury, Kyle Ribelin and wife Claudine of Salisbury, Connie Jenkins and husband Christopher of Burke, Va., Frank Brown, Jr. and wife Ada of Greenville, N.C., Anne Gardner and husband Bruce of Pacifica, Calif., and Betsy Johnson and husband Kirk of Asheville; sister Rena Morgan Brown; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; and nine great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Service: The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 at Liberty United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Charlie Curtis, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at Liberty United Methodist Church from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Memorials: May be made to Liberty United Methodist Church, Building Fund; or Hospice and Palliative Care of Rowan County.
